Sleep Time

Current Music = Mistress Mabel by The Fratellis

Have not ben to Lichfield this week. Spent today doing job shadowing for some new people to the company (and some old ones)

The chief problem with job shadowing something like the job I do, is that, unless you do it for 3 months, it sort of just leaves you confused and wondering WTF.

Apparently the US Supreme Court has declines to introduce the death penalty for child rape. Obviously that means the Ultra Conservatives will be up in arms. In order to balance it up they also told Exxon that they don't need to pay the $2.5 billion in fines that were impose after the fuckwits managed to crash a tanker and take out most of the natural beauty of the North American coastline.

There are also news reports that, after the Mississippi burst it's banks there will be a grain shortage. Butter is up 32%, eggs up 39%. Food prices are increasing and, that's no great surprise. People will have to make choices, 50 years ago people spent about 33% of their income on food, these days they spent 15%. Obviously that should tell you something. Food is too cheap. Food prices NEED to go up. The balance needs to be restored

It's quite an interesting question. Extra demand for staples drives the prices up. Lack of supply causes increased costs and prices go up. Once again, time for people to decide.

Maybe I will just give up eating!

Speaking of eating, I had pasta for lunch. I'm not a HUGE pasta fan, but whenever they make pasta bolognaise at work it is usually quite nice. Problem is, I keep burping garlic all the time. I am now still up with indigestion..lol It was nice pasta though.

Anyway, it's turned 11 so am off for a doze. No doubt the furry urban terrorist will wake me up around 4..lol

Post

I have said it time and time and time again that if you build on a flood plain you cannot be surprised if, at some point in te future that your home becomes flooded. The Missippi burst it's banks, and to be honest, the more you build up the levies, the bigger the problem you eventually have, so why is everyone acting so surprised?

Is now going to sleep…..

Yummy

[What did you do this week Geoff?]

Well computer, I travelled down to Lichfield, I had a couple of rugby balls thrown to me by work collegues, and I had some REALLY nice food :)

[What were the rugby balls Geoff?]

Computer dear chap, rugby balls are little jobs that keep getting passed around, todays being a presentation that was apparently "easy to write" and tomorrows being a team building excercise for the commercial department!

[Sounds fun, was it?]

Yes, it probably was, however, I am now in posession of 100 multicolured plastic balls, a large amount of other suff, and the need to come up with some sort of game by 10 am tomorrow morning..lol..Oh well, life eh?

[What was the food Geoff, and why was it so nice?]

Computer my friend, the food was asyounding. For the last few weeks I have been staying at a pub about 10 minutes away from the site. The food is FAB. Last night I had Asparagus, wrapped in Parma ham, served with a poached egg in Holladaise sauce. That was the starter, the main course was Chicken Cacciatore, served with Polenta. That was nice as well. Last week I had Zampone , which is Salami wrapped in a pigs trotter and steamed, served on a bed of lentils. This is proper food, not the crap you get in the frozen section of the supermarket. Proper food, cooked by proper people, tasting like real food should. Anyway, I was stuffed lol

[And how was the trip back?]

It was interesting? Mainly due to the woman sat opposite who was listening , as was I, to some bloke talking bollocks to his boss on the phone. He must have been chatting for nearly an hour, telling his boss how he expected to be doing 126% of target for this month, that with a little bit of "dodging and ducking" (his words) he would hopefully make 128% next month, and everything was on target….beautiful boss, yeah, beautiful!

Both the woman and myself decided quite early that the guy was a tosser and deserved to have the piss taken out of him, which we did, with skill, aplomb, and witty judgements. Made the journey seem like only a few minutes.

[And what do you expect to be doing now?]

Computer, I expect to be sleeping, but not with you as I find you only slightly attractive, in a silver covered, glossy screen ind of way!

Whoo Hoo. Result

In an amazing result, after checking on TheTrainline.com last night, I discovered that there was a train from Manchester that stopped at Lichfield and it was at 8.15 and arrived at 9.15. This meant that I didn't need to leave the house at 4.30 this morning but meant that I could leave at 7.30. A result in anyones book.

We went out last night as my ex-boss is leaving the department, so many beers (well vodka and orangejuices) were drunk and much hilarity ensued. There were many many many pictures that were taken and there will probably be some of them published on Facebook in the near future. How many of them will probably be open to negotiation when people sober up.

The outside of most public buildings these days is a disgrace as most of them not only smell like ashtrays, but you have to fight your way through a hoard of people all trying to have a quick cigarette before they go in. All that banning smoking has done is move it to the entrance.

I bought some sandwiches from Sainsburys on the station as I could get 2 for the price that 1 would cost me onboard. Only problem is, I can't open the damn thing as they are sealed so tightly the damn thing won't open. Will have to make to with a can of coke instead.

Oh no….I have to go and drink beer!!!!!!!!!

Am off out tonight as it is the leaving do for my ex-boss, who is off to the land of BDU. Dirty nasty beer. How WILL I cope?

I am going into work for half a day, and am taking the morning off. However, yesterday at work Len fell a little bit ill and we had to get an ambulance, so I will try and get what I need to do over and done with so that I can get in as soon as. Not heard anything since yesterday afternoon , so I hope he is ok.

Even though I have a half day, and , in theory I dont have t get up at some ridiculously early hour, nobidy told the cat . So, at 4.30 this morning he did his usual trick of jumping on my head.

Some Might Say

I was talking with my boss yesterday and we started to discuss The Apprentice and we were both f the opinion that all of the people involved were spoilt, wet behind the ears, knobheads who, if it came down to it couldn't run a business if their life depended on it.

And people wonder why I don't watch TV?

It has been a couple of very nice sunny days, but I wonder why, given the fact that it was soooooo sunny yesterday, when I got on the bus there were 2 people wearing winter duffelcoats? Are duffelcoats the latest "thing"? I miss these "things" so often as to make it unreal…I still don't get the girls walking to the newsagent in her pyjamas thing. I mean, how difficult can it be to slip on a pair of jeans?

Am working down at Lichfield on Saturday and am still deciding if I want to come home Saturday night or stop off in Brum and go out drinking? Will probably decide on Saturday afternoon. I may even decide to goto the Gun akers as I havn't been there in a good long time. A few pints in a proper pub is whats needed :)

Rubberise my banana penguin

Morning All.

Current Tune = Bastille Day by Rush

The thing that amazes me the most about things like Big Brother is the immediate way people judge you. Last night I watched a few minutes of the new people arriving, and the arbitrary way that the crows chose their favourites. One person at the back of the crowd, who starts the booing, can influence the entire program. The people arriving were unknown, after a 30 second intro they were thrown into the house. The crowd already decided who they wanted out, who was cool, who was geeky and who they cared about. In 30 seconds….get stuffed. Anyway, I saw about 3 arrived, then decided that sleep was more preferable than watching that sort of tat. So I did.

Current Tune = Town called Malice by The Jam

Yesterday at Lichfield we did some environmental briefs. Maybe you didn't know, but yesterday was World Environmental Day. Now, as someone who travels all the time on public transport, I find it difficult to believe that people are prepared to argue against it because they may have to walk half a mile to a bus stop? Or “because it's not convenient to car share”, etc etc. The entire world is about to face a huge problem with food and energy shortages, a problem that not only will effect you, but will cause problems for your children's children. 30 years of failure by British Government to invest within infrastructure is about to take it's toll. Trust me, I am of the belief that, in 10 years time you will be lucky to be able to boil an egg without it costing you £5.

Current Tune = This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie.

I stopped writing while Woody was singing. A man 100 years ahead of his time!!

Current Tune = Centrefold by Hayseed Dixie.

It's a bit of a dull day, Not cold or wet, just dull. After yesterdays superb day hopefully today will turn out similar. Mind you, outside yesterday was horribly hot. Luckily I spent most of the day in the warehouse which runs at a lovely 2 or 3 degree C.

Current Tune = Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

Someone mentioned Curt Cobains name the other day at work and we were met with blank stares by some of the girls in the office. Curt who? I suppose they are right. If he had still been alive he would have been the faded rock star that just got stone/drunk at celebrity parties, trying to remind the media that once upon a time his band were possibly the greatest band on the planet. There was a documentary on Nirvana on BBC2, I think it was part of the Rock Family Tree series. Nirvana were heavily influenced by Black Flag and REM. If he had survived, would they have gone onto super stardom, or would they have faded away as so man of these bands do? They make enough money to drag themselves out of the poverty, but the poverty is the driving force behind the anger, and the anger is the driving force behind the music. Music should mean things, not just be a way of making money. The best music comes from pain, look at Woody Guthrie. His music was a protest against the working conditions faced by Americas working classes. He spent his life living a idea. If he had sold out, then the music wouldn't have meant so much.

Current Tune = Perfect Day by Lou Reed.

You're gonna reap just what you sow. Mr Reed got it right. Continue fucking up the world the way we are doing at the moment and suddenly enough there is not going to be a world to fuck up. Given the food riots of the last few days I am seriously worried that these will escalate. The entire world is only every 7 days away from anarchy. If people don't get fed, then watch this space. There will be murder. There are few emotions that influence people in quite the same way as hunger. If food gets to the stage where staples are unaffordable then you have a problem. Economic theory states that, the poorer an economy becomes the more staples it eats. Bread, rice etc. are known as Giffin Goods and their sales always rise when an economy is going through a bad period. However, if an economy is in deep shit (as I believe a large part of the worlds economy is) , AND the price of the Giffin Goods becomes untenable, then you potentially have a huge problem.

Current Tune = London Girl by The Pogues.

Looking at the countryside as we pass by, it seems to be turning once again into quite a nice day. Most of the people on the train don't seem to give a monkey's! I thing they are all a little bit unsure about the idea of catching the 5.20 ANYTHING never mind the 5.20 train. Oh well, us regulars look at it as a nice quiet train ride.

Current Tune = In The Flesh by Pink Floyd.

I often write these journal entries whilst on the train, sometimes I even publish them. It helps to while away the 90 min train journey. I usually save them to the hard disc and then forget to publish them to LJ. After a few weeks I go back and read them and think”what utter bollocks was I talking THAT day”, oh hum. Lol I always said that posting to a blog is somewhat akin to dancing in a nightclub. If you looked at it in the cold light of day you would probably feel highly embarrassed, but at 2 am in the morning when you are drunk, it seems like the best idea EVER. When, the following morning you wake up and see who you went home with, you start to have regrets, and you promise yourself you are never going to do it again, then, come the next time you still haven't learnt your lesson. You should have to have a tattoo on your arm every time you do it, as some reminder of what you inflicted upon people.

Current Tune = Owner of a Lonely Heart by Yes.

Oh well, here we are, stuck at Crewe. Been pulled up for 5 mins, oh we are off, maybe we were just early.

Current Tune = Shoulda Been You by This is Seb Clarke

Oh well, we are well on our way to Stafford now. Staffordshire is , as I said to Rachel the other night, a “flatulent little county” She was talking about going to work in Stafford itself. She lives in a lovely little town called Alsager, so it wouldn't be a million miles away for her to travel, after ll, she travels to Manchester at the min.

Current Tune = Goldfish and Paracetamol by Catatonia

Oh well. Will probably have to save this now as we are motoring along. Should be in Stafford soon and it's only a few mins from there to Lichfield. Will post this later…if I remember/can be arsed.
