Once upon a time in the Imagination of an Idiot

It's 5.20 am and we are off to Lichfield again. Last week in London was a bit of a blip, but Lichfield is ok. Hopefully we can start to bring a little bit of control back and start to have a little bit more of a relaxed life.

I have had half a day off work so far this year, which leaves me 24.5 days, plus another 6 half days that I can take on a Friday but which I probably won't get because it will be too busy. Dunno what I am supposed to do with all these damn holidays??

Current Music = Shameless by The Fratellis.

Last week was fun. We set off from Manchester at around 3 pm on the Sunday in order to get down to London. We arrived at our hotel (more below) about 8 pm, and decided to head off to find the depot. After about 10 mins drive we came across it, found out what time we were leaving the following morning, and then headed off with Mark to get something to eat. Steaks were ordered and then we headed back to the hotel.

It was a De Vere hotel, set in 55 acres of it's own countryside, and very nice it was too. The tree house was quite impressive, as were the rooms and the overall look of the place. My room was at the far end of “The Mansion” and Andy's was in “The Stables “.

Update: I lost my charger for my Motorola phone, so I popped into the phone shop to buy a new one, only to be looked at like I had asked the assistant for a blow job?? “THAT phone is an OLD phone sir, we don't DO chargers for THAT phone anymore”….with the obvious suggestion that I had failed to keep up with the trends in phone chargers meaning I am nothing more than a waste of his day and should leave his premises straight away…which I did. I therefore went into the Vodafone shop up the road where a very nice lady offered me a selection of phones for about £10 more than it would have cost me for a charger, accepted my money without a sneer, and I was on my way, in a little over 3 minutes. Obviously smart man from phone shop up the road has much to learn about business.

Burp. I just ate tea. It was a pigs foot, stuffed with Italian sausage meat, steamed and served on a bed of lentils. It was lovely. And caused a stir as Nat (owner of pub) brought out the entire pigs foot rather than just 2 or 3 slices. We had everyone trying some…Was really really nice, Very tasty.

Current Tune = All Together Now by The Farm

Haven't ben to Lichfield this week as things have been a bit up in the air. We strt a new contract on Monday, so needless to say eveything is changing somewhat. I am out on Saturday Night and am in work at 6am on Sunday Morning (because of new contract)

Current Tune = Ick Thump by The White Stripes

This weekend is Music in the Park at Platt Fields. Given the weather of the lat couple of days I can't help feeling that this is going to be somewhat of a washout. Even the fact that some of Mancesters best independant real ale brewers are there doesn't really make me want to commit to going down. Maybe I will see how the weather is tomorrow and then decide for Sunday afternoon.

As for next week, well, the start of a new contract can bring problems all of it's own. However, you can't really plan for those and we will have to see. You never know, it may all fit in seamlesly and there will be no problem at all.

Yay..Weekend

Yay the weekend has arrived and tomorrow it's time for Stabon, the twice a year games con held in Manchester. Time for beers, food, playing games and meeting up with old friends.

No finer weekend experience is available unless you could get thrown into a vat full of chocolate with added lesbians.

I just upset Nobby BIG time. I had fed him and, as I went out to throw out some rubbish, he ran out as well. So I picked him up, took him to the dustbin, opened it up to throw in the rubbish, dropped the lid and next thing I know I have a cat going apeshit. I had closed the lid on his paw..Poor sod. Now he is thinking I hate him. I gave him extra food to say sorry. He was fine, until his food was finished, then he started to limp and hold his paw out for sympathy. Clever git, thought I was gonna give him more food because I felt sorry for him. He is getting too smart by half.

Excerpts from a Cat’s Diary…

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am.

Human Scum!!!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.

However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow – but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

For now…

Jesus Carruthers, It;s pissing down out there!!!!!!

Music = The Fratellis Brilliant New Album

Well, I hauled buttock all the way down to Lichfield for , what I believe was a 4 hour meeting, which we managed to plough through in a little over 40 minutes which was a relief. Then I had the rest of the day to kill at Lichfield so I did some reports, did some whizzy excel stuff for Stock Control who now want to have my babies, and then made my way to the station to come home.

This morning on the train there I was, nice and quiet, nobody in sight, the birds singing etc, when suddenly I am surrounded on all sides by some really rather cute girlies who sit opposite me, next to be, in the seats across the aisle etc etc. They are all chatting away, and it seems it was some Uni of Manchester Lesbian Soc day out…Oh well, there are worse ways to spend the morning than surrounded by cute lesbians..lol

Am on way home tonight, was going to stay over, but need to be back at Royton tomorrow. So, after setting off at 6.30 this morning, will now be getting home at 8.30 tonight…Shame I love my job really..lol

I must say that there are some track on the new Fratelli's album that are excellent. There are also some that are just ok, but all in all a very well spent £14.00 or so.

I was also very impressed with the Racontours at Glastonbury. They were impressive and showed lots of energy, which is always a good think at a festival. Nothing is more annoying than standing in a field to listen to a band who couldn't give a shit. If they are enthusiastic, then so are the crowd. It's amazing how was a group of 25,000 people can all end up with the same opinion of someone inside about 3 minutes.

Today was one of the hottest days of the year so far. Brilliant sunshine all the way down to Lichfield, all through the day and most of the way back to Manchester, so how come, after arriving in Manchester the heavens opened and I end up getting home pissed wet through? Call me confused. All day…nothing. Geoff goes home…Rain! Even the cab driver was amazed because, in typically lucky cab driver mode it had started raining just as he picked up his first job. Cabbies LOVE the rain as , if it's sunny, people tend to walk everywhere rather than get a cab.

Anyway, now I am home time for something to eat. Ham, cheese on organic wholemeal bread..Yummy.
