Current Music….Telegraph Road by Dire Straits
Apparently, before the world ends, there will be one perfect day. One day that, before we blow up in a ball of fire, will be an ideal. Today is probably mine. I have just caught the train from Piccadilly and we are heading through the Cheshire countryside. It's bright, sunny, but cold. The sun is shining through the mist that is rolling across the fields, and when you breathe you get that Autumn “frosty breath”.
I love days like this. It's the sort of day that makes it good to get up early in the morning, you know that the mist will have burnt off by 10 or 11, but whilst it's here, it makes everything look slightly weird.
Even when you come out of a tunnel, and hit the edge of a town, it still makes you look impressed, and trust me, Macclesfield at this time in the morning takes something special to make it look good.
Current Music….On a Day like This by Elbow.
I think the laptop is probably reading my mind as the next track to arrive on play was the one above. Elbow were deserved winners of the awards they won, but then again it's probably the fact that I am a Manc. I had a huge argument on the internet with someone trying to class areas of Manchester and make generalisations about the people there. He was dividing areas of the city into zones, and saying “anyone from Zone 1 is a tosser, anyone from Zone 2 (mine) is stupid and spends their time on the dole “ etc. I went off at him big time. The guy responded and for a fair few days we ripped the fuck out of each other. So much so that I have never bothered returning to his website. The guy writes ONE book about “The Perry Boys” and suddenly he is allowed to slag off people I know and respect. I don't think so. He doesn't even LIVE in Manc anymore.
Anyway, rant over. I haven't had a good rant in ages, maybe I should do it more often. Things that annoy me…I have a list. Expect a series of them now, then again, I have just looked out the window as we cross the Cheshire Plain and forgot why I was annoyed. If I won a lot of money I would buy a view like that. As much as I love Manchester, waking up in the morning and seeing some view like that could only be inspiring.

Next week will be very interesting, I am working on a special project at work, and will be moving around a fair bit, hopefully, if what we are planning comes off, it will be spectacular. No clues, but it WILL be amazing.
Someone at work asked me last night if I hated travelling by train, the simple answer is no. It's comfortable, I can listen to music, work on the laptop, have a coffee and arrive at Lichfield unstressed, 5 mins away from where I want to be, and in the mood to start work. How many car drivers can say the same?
I have never been one for keeping my nose out of stuff, but the events of recent weeks have left me in shock. The “Credit Crunch” (fuck it, lets call it a depression) has been blamed for all sorts of stuff, but surely the people to blame must be the greedy wankers who gamble peoples pension money on risky investments in the hope of pulling themselves a massive bonus? Maybe this will teach them, but then again why should it when the government will just bail them out. Surely the idea of a free market is that people who live by the sword dire by the same sword? The idea of people being paid a “large” wage and then being given a bonus if the actully get off their arses and DO THEIR JOB, is surely one of the factors. People should be paid a reasonable wages, and if they don't do their job the should be flirted off. It shouldn't be a matter of getting a bonus if you do well, it should be a matter of getting the Spanish Archer if you don't.

We are arriving into Stoke on Trent. On a Saturday I have to travel into Birmingham New Street and then head back north to Lichfield. Now, If I wanted to go to New Street on a Saturday it would cost me £26.00. However, if I wanted to go to Lichfield it would cost me £21.50, so, needless to say, whenever I goto Birmingham I am actually travelling on a ticket to Lichfield, I just don't do the train change. Saves me £5.50 each way. Why the hell don't they just come up with a simpler system as, some poor soul, who is on the same train that I am has paid the extra and they just don't know.

We have started to arrange next years Saver Awards Nights, If everything we are planning coems off then they will be even better than last year. Hopefully I can get started on the website later this week. Working away from home means that I have 2 options. I can work in my room, or I can stay in the bar and drink. Guess which one I normally take. Yes, beer wins out most of the time.

People think that, when you are working away it's actually one big party. Nothing could be further from the truth. You tend to work longer hours simply because tIhere is nothing else for you to do. Even when you are staying in a pub, there is only so much time you want to spend in a bar (I know…I never thought I would say it either). You get back to the pub, eat something, have a beer, and then you tend to goo bed.

It's been weeks since I updated any blog. I have been so busy. I know that people on FB see me a lot, but that's because FB is simple. You can chat, play a game etc. Writing on LJ , or any of the others takes thought and you have to type. I am making myself do this a lot more as I have decided that my brain is becoming lazy during the off work periods. I spend all day solving problems and doing stuff, and then go home and sit like a cabbage. If I get into THAT habit then I will find that I start to do the same thing at work, and that's a start to a slippery slope.

I keep finding hairs in the laptop. I think that Nobbycat is going any lying on the keyboard when I goto bed. He has a fascination with electrical stuff. I have lost ONE phone because he has been playing with it and buried it somewhere. He loves wires and he always rubs himself against the laptop when it's on the table. I wonder if I have found the words first geeky cat?
The mist is even thicker down in Shropshire, I wonder if we will have a pea-souper by the time I get to Birmingham.
I know these rambles tend to get very bitty. It's the fact that there is so much spinning around inside my head. Things just tend to tumble out, especially when I am just sat here typing and letting “streams of conciousness” flow out of my fingers. I think it might be the fact that I am listening to music as I type.

Ok, it's now stopped being a mist and is now quite a thick fog. I can't see past the hedges at the side of the line. We could be anywhere in the world and I would never know. I have also just realised that we are nearly an hour into the trip and nobody has even bothered to collect the tickets yet. No wonder people like travelling by train. I know they very rarely bother on the way back from Euston, but they usually do on the way there.

Oh what a shame. They have demolished The Stafford Arms. It was an iconic pub that used to stand outside Stafford Station. It had a fire a couple of years ago, and the brewery never seemed to want to do anything? It's now a carpark for the garage next door. Another bloody pub bites the dust. What's the point of having a real ale pressure group like CAMRA if they never bloody do anything about classic pubs like that shutting down. It sold Titanic beer, was a friendly place, and was a nice enough pub for people to go and drink in, but obviously not significant as far as CAMRA were concerned. To be honest, when I worked in a pub, some CAMRA members were ok, but some of them were the biggest pain in the arse, monotonistic wankers I have ever met in my entire life, and as for Tickers, well don't get me started. If EVER there were a group of men who need to give up their hobby and get out and meet women it's them.

One of my friends (Hi Kenders) has just emigrated to Australia. One hopes that Australia is ready for him. He is a nice guy but he is SHIT at playing Diplomacy!. Good luck to him, mind you, I have no idea how he got in. You are supposed to be intelligent, charismatic and under retirement age???
Anyway, time to finish. I am already gonna get shouted at by Erran who will see this post and go spare because I am posting via FB I won't be able to put in any LJ cuts….oops
